Disability Tax Credit

Your LD child might be eligible for the disability tax credit (DTC). In 2003, the
government of Canada broadened the definition and eligibility criteria for persons with
physical and mental disabilities and their caregivers. We encourage you to visit their web

Tuition Support Program

For some parents struggling with a learning disabled child, an approved-private special education school can provide a level of support that the public system can not match.  Tuition at these specialized schools can overwhelm most budgets though. Canada Access Grant
- Post-secondary education funding

A grant which may be available to students with LD's in Nova Scotia from the DOE. The maximum grant is $2,000 per year. Please refer to the handbook for additional information.


Canada Studies Grant
- Post-secondary education funding

Students could also potentially qualify for a Canada Studies Grant (CSG) that covers academic accommodations such as tutoring, note taking, adaptive software, etc - maximum $8000 per year. More info.
